Alan Tam Wing-Lun is a Hong Kong singer and actor born on August 23, 1950, in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong, now part of China. He is known for his work in acting, with 147 known credits listed on the Movie Database. He played a major role in developing the Cantopop scene during the 1980s, becoming known for singing romantic ballads featuring modern arrangements. Between 1983 and 1987, he received numerous music awards, winning Most Popular Male Artist and the IFPI Award for four successive years, establishing him as a prominent superstar singer in Hong Kong during that decade. In early 1988, he publicly stepped away from all pop music award ceremonies to focus his efforts on finding new directions for Cantopop music. He is also a member of The Wynners.
