Offenbach (dpa) – Showers like rain and thunderstorms await Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland at the weekend. There could be heavy rain again, said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Thursday. Where and whether there will be storms cannot be precisely predicted at the moment. On Friday it will initially stay dry with sunshine and up to 30 degrees. The clouds will come on Saturday, according to the meteorologist. At noon there was initially shower-like rain in the west, and in the afternoon the whole area was affected. Local thunderstorms can also form on Sunday during the day. The temperatures drop somewhat, to up to 28 degrees on Saturday and a maximum of 27 degrees on Sunday.
Last week, a storm with heavy rain triggered a flood in Rhineland-Palatinate, among other places. The death toll rose to 125 in the hardest hit district of Ahrweiler. Almost 42,000 people are affected by the accident. Parts of the region still have neither water nor electricity.
