Munich (dpa / lby) – The late summer in Bavaria takes a break with sometimes heavy rain, hail and storm. During the night on Saturday there is a risk of heavy rain with up to 40 liters of rain per square meter and hour, especially on the edge of the Alps and up to the Danube. The German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Friday. In addition, hailstones of a size of two centimeters and stormy gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour are possible there.
In the Upper Palatinate and Upper Franconia, it can also thunderstorm on Saturday night and rain heavily with more than 25 liters of rain per hour and square meter.
A spokesman said Saturday would be cooler and thunderstorm across Bavaria because of a cold front. But on Sunday it will be nice again in many places – and around 24 degrees. This is certainly to be expected in Main Franconia and also on the Danube. At the edge of the Alps, in the Bavarian Forest and in the Upper Palatinate Forest, it gets a little cooler with around 20 degrees.
But the late summer weather remains in Bavaria. By the middle of the week, 20 to 25 degrees are likely in the Free State, said the meteorologist. It will probably be cooler from Thursday – with a maximum of 20 degrees.
