Volleyball women grab next to European Championship plaque | Sport

In the third set, which was led by the Orange for a long time, Avital Selinger’s team made the best impression. But in the end, the Netherlands also turned out to be a size too small for the Turks in that set.

It is not the first fourth place in a major tournament. In recent years, the Netherlands has already won bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games and the 2018 World Cup.

The Dutch men did not succeed in winning their third match at the European Championships. In the Finnish city of Tampere, Russia proved too strong in five sets: 25-13 19-25 25-21 21-25 15-13. The Russians use their fourth game point in the fifth set.

The Orange had convincingly won the first two games. Both North Macedonia and Spain were defeated 3-0. The team of national coach Roberto Piazza will also compete in the group against Finland and Turkey, which Russia already defeated 3-1.

The Orange had no chance against the Russians in the first set, but the ‘Tall Men’ recovered well. However, they did not have the lead for a moment and in the fifth set they also continuously faced a large deficit. Thanks to a strong game by Nimir Abdelaziz, the Netherlands came back in the deciding set from 14-10 to 14-13, but a victory was just not in it.

The top four countries from the group of six advance to the eighth finals in Poland. During the last edition of the European championship, the Orange squad got stuck in the eighth finals. The title then went to Serbia.
