The unveiled window commemorates the bombing of the cities of Rotterdam, Coventry and Dresden during World War II. Beatrix spoke with chairman Wubbo Tempel of the Laurenskerk and artist Janneke Viegers about the making process of the stained glass window.

During the ceremony, Princess Beatrix received the first copy of the book The windows of the Laurenskerk. The Sint Laurenskerk is the oldest monumental building in Rotterdam and was heavily damaged by the bombing during the Second World War. Its restoration symbolizes the reconstruction after the war.
