After winning the last sprint of the 2022 edition, the Belgian took the lead in the 2023 Tour on Monday. Adam Yates remains yellow jersey.
The first group finish is for Jasper Philipsen! At the end of a third transition stage, which will have allowed the peloton to recover from a first trying Basque weekend, the Belgian from Alpecin-Deceuninck won the sprint in Bayonne on Monday 3 July. Led by a very good train, with Mathieu van der Poel as the last launcher, the sprinter, now a triple winner on the Tour de France, beat Phil Bahaus and Caleb Ewan. In the duel with the winner of the day until the last corner, Wout van Aert could not fully compete in this sprint and finished fifth.
In the general classification, no upheaval: Adam Yates remains leader, ahead of Tadej Pogacar and his brother, Simon Yates. For the distinctive jerseys, Victor Lafay keeps his green jersey, Neilson Powless his polka dot jersey and Tadej Pogacar his white jersey. At the front for 156 kilometers, Laurent Pichon will wear the combative bib of the day during the fourth stage between Dax and Nogaro.
