An impressive fire broke out this Friday, September 10 on the site of the JB Martin factory, in the city center of Fougères.

The flames quickly spread to various buildings on the site, including the one that housed the factory outlet, as well as to neighboring workshops.

One hour after the alert was triggered, the forty or so firefighters continue to fight against the fire which is likely to spread to the building along Boulevard Edmond-Roussin. About 500 square meters of premises are set ablaze.

The sub-prefect Didier Doré and many elected officials from Fougeres are on site, including the mayor Louis Feuvrier who mentions in this site “a site which belongs to the heritage of Fougeres”.

At this time no evacuation of residents seems necessary.

The JB Martin factory has been unoccupied since June 2020 and the company has gone into liquidation.
