On the day that Bilbao officially announced the arrival of Thijs De Ridder, the young Belgian once again showed his class at the European U20 Championship. Thanks to a brilliant performance by De Ridder – including monster dunk – the Lions are in the quarter finals of the European Championship.
Thijs De Ridder is working on a very strong European Championship, where he is both top scorer and best rebounder. Estonia was also the plaything of the impressive forward in the 1/8th finals on Wednesday.
De Ridder was good for 30 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists. With a 14 for 14, he was also clear from the free throw line. In the 3rd quarter, he also provided the highlight of the match with a phenomenal dunk that completely took Estonia’s breath away.
After an 80-65 victory, Belgium is in the quarter-finals of the European U20 Championship. In it, the young Lions will compete against strong Lithuania on Thursday. The Lithuanians have won all their matches at this tournament so far, with an average difference of more than 15 points.
