San Francisco. Twitter wants to allow users to earn money with exclusive content. At a presentation for investors on Thursday (local time), the company from San Francisco, California, explained the new function called “Super Follows”. For them, users should be able to see the content of successful Twitter accounts for a monthly fee that remains hidden from other users. It shouldn’t matter whether the providers are companies, celebrities or private individuals.
As examples of possible exclusive content, newsletters only for subscribers, videos, offers and discount campaigns were given. Social network users and investors have long been urging Twitter to introduce a subscription model. The feature comes at a time when providers like Patreon, Substack or Onlyfans are already allowing users to convert their popularity into money. The new function also opens up new advertising opportunities for Twitter. How much the company intends to withhold from the amounts paid was initially not known.
