UNFS expresses concern over deteriorating health of Sultana Khaya’s family

CHAHID EL-HAFEDH – The National Union of Sahrawi Women (UNFS) has expressed its great concern at the deterioration of the health of the family of Sahrawi activist Sultana Khaya, whose home has been under siege for almost 300 days.

In a statement quoted by the Saharawi News Agency (SPS), the UNFS condemned the persistence of the occupation state in its repressive and punitive policy against civilians, human rights activists and journalists. Sahrawi, worrying about the deterioration in the state of health of the family of activist Sultana Khaya, whose home has been under siege by the occupation police for 295 days.

The members of the Sahrawi activist’s family are subjected to terrible police repression with a ban on all outings or visits and are subjected to the most abject and inhuman methods of intimidation and to the barbaric and degrading treatment inflicted by the occupation police forces. The National Union of Saharawi Women held the UN responsible for the deterioration of the human rights situation in the occupied part of Western Sahara, insisting on the imperative to ensure the protection of Saharawi civilians in the territories occupied Sahrawis who are subject to a military blockade and a total media blackout.

In this context, the Sahrawi organization called on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene urgently to put pressure on Morocco, which enjoys total impunity, so that it ceases its abuses. barbaric practices in the occupied territories of Western Sahara and that it respects international legality and the rights of the Saharawis guaranteed to them by all international treaties and covenants.
