- Unemployment down year-on-year
- Highest level in Gelsenkirchen for over 10 years
In Bottrop, unemployment fell by more than 2 percent year-on-year to an average of 8 percent. The rate is thus approaching the values before the pandemic. In Gelsenkirchen and Gladbeck, too, unemployment fell steadily over the course of the year. Nevertheless, in Gelsenkirchen it is at its highest level for over 10 years. According to employment agencies, short-time work was able to save many jobs in our country last year. The large number of people without professional qualifications is a cause for concern. They make up more than 70 percent of the unemployed in Gelsenkirchen. The employment agency therefore wants to campaign for more further training opportunities this year.
