Ukraine will liberate Crimea without a fight – Reznikov – UNIAN

The liberation of Crimea can take place without fighting directly on the territory of the peninsula. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov in a comment to the magazine The Atlantic.

The publication notes that the Crimea is of strategic importance for Ukraine.

“Over the past nine years, the Putin regime has turned Crimea from a resort area into something resembling a Russian aircraft carrier attached to the “underbelly” of Ukraine, dotted with trenches and fortifications,” the magazine writes and notes that the Crimean occupation head Sergey Aksyonov also called the peninsula a “forward outpost” “occupation of the south of Ukraine.

Since the Russians are turning Crimea into a kind of fortress, the Ukrainian side is talking about the “military-political” liberation of the peninsula. The magazine outlines the general essence of this concept: the Armed Forces of Ukraine will block the road, rail and water supply routes for troops on the peninsula and start hitting the military infrastructure with drones, which will force the invaders to leave the peninsula.

“We will take Crimea without a fight,” Reznikov said.

Prospects for the liberation of Crimea

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, one of the tasks of the upcoming counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be the liberation of Crimea. However, the President did not disclose details, specifying that much depends on the supply of Western weapons.

According to Natalya Gumenyuk, speaker of OK Yug, the attack on a large fuel storage facility of the invaders in Sevastopol is one of the elements of preparation for the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
