On the night of Saturday to Sunday, the main event of UFC 263 will pit Israel Adesanya against Marvin Vettori in a fight that smells of powder. Visibly little stressed, the middleweight champion has also allowed an attack below the belt towards his opponent. Literally…
Known for his outspokenness and his few verbal slippages, Israel Adesanya is always a good client to turn things up before a fight. A few days before his opposition to Marvin Vettori in a re-match of their 2018 clash, the Stylebender has remained, to say the least, true to himself …
Izzy took advantage of the very evocative tweet of a tweeter to make a murderous joke on the private parts of his opponent. Look below instead:
Why his shorts on backwards tho?! 😂 https://t.co/q21zQLfSze
— Israel Adesanya (@stylebender) June 10, 2021
Twittos : “If size really matters, Izzy has already won”
Adesanya : “Why did he put his shorts upside down ?! 😂 “
The punchline is well found, but it should only serve to over-motivate Vettori, already eager to erase the setback of 3 years ago after a very close fight:
In February 2020, Adesanya was criticised by many for comments made at the UFC 248 pre-fight press conference, where he said he would make opponent Yoel Romero « crumble like the Twin Towers », referencing the September 11 attacks where the Twin Towers were bombed. The following day, Adesanya made an apology on his Instagram page, saying « I was simply rambling and my brain worked faster than my mouth in a moment to choose the wrong euphemism. You speak on the mic enough times and you’re bound to miss the mark with some bars. I did on this one and for that I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful in (the) future with my words.”
Winner of Kevin Holland for his last fight to date, Vettori (17-4-1) will present himself in confidence for the big shock. For his part, Adesanya (20-1-0) is still as sure of himself:
He’s lost his mind. This time around, there will be no doubt. I can’t wait to tear it down.
Appointment is therefore taken in the night from Saturday to Sunday, to settle this affair once and for all.
With his usual banter, Israel Adesanya allows himself all the trash-talkings before the fight. It will now be necessary to face a vengeful Vettori.
