Trailer Der Theatermacher – Schauspiel Dortmund

by drbyos

An artist comedy by Thomas Bernhard “The theater by Kay Voges is currently the most innovative one can see far and wide – and” Der Theatermacher “by Thomas Bernhard is the current highlight.” (Ruhr Nachrichten) “Funny enough to scream. An unbelievable drama festival. ”(Ruhrbarone) In the shabby dance hall of the“ Schwarzer Hirsch ”inn: Here, of all places, in the village of Utzbach, the state actor Bruscon stops with his human comedy“ The Wheel of History ”. He himself plays a leading role – and to his chagrin also all members of his family in the supporting roles: the children are untalented, his wife has a never-ending coughing fit. Bruscon’s claims are immeasurable against himself, against his family – and the location of the drama. According to Bruscon, so that the effect of this outstanding work can fully develop, all light in the “Schwarzer Hirsch” inn must go out at the end of the performance, including the emergency lighting! A nightmare for the fire department! But that’s not the only problem … With this comedy, which premiered at the Salzburg Festival in 1985, Thomas Bernhard set a monument to all art tyrants and theater-obsessed. The theater maker Bruscon is a prime example of Bernhard’schen Figurenkabinett: irresistibly grumpy and opinionated – at the same time unrestrained in the sensuality and musicality of his language. Alongside Werner Schwab, Elfriede Jelinek and Peter Handke, Thomas Bernhard (1931-1989) is considered to be the most important author in Austria at the end of the 20th century.
