Traffic restrictions on the occasion of sporting events –

A cycling event will take place in Bern on Sunday. Several streets will be blocked in downtown Bern. Due to another cycling event, traffic restrictions must also be expected on the route between Bern and Interlaken.

On Sunday, September 12th, 2021, the “Race for Life” velomarathon will take place in Bern. During the event, the Bundesplatz as well as the Bear and Orphanage Square are occupied. In addition to the squares, parts of the city of Bern are also driven, which leads to corresponding traffic diversions.

From 7 a.m. to approx. 10 p.m., the Bundesgasse is closed to motorized individual traffic and public transport from the Schwanengasse in the direction of Bundesplatz. The Amthaus- and Schauplatzgasse as well as the stretch from the Zytglogge to the Bear Park are also closed. Corresponding diversions are signaled. However, traffic restrictions must be expected.

The “L’Étape Switzerland” bike event will also take place at the same time. The route of the event leads from Bern to Interlaken. Traffic restrictions, temporary road closures and waiting times can also be expected along this route in the affected communities and regions. Road users are asked to pay attention to the detours and to follow the instructions of the route services. An overview of the entire route of the events is available at to find.
