SERIES – It’s been almost two years that Prime Video subscribers have been waiting while biting their nails for season 2 of The Wheel of Times: good news for them, the fantasy series is back on september 1st.

But before you jump headlong into the first episode, maybe it’s a good idea to give you a little recap of season 1. The Wheel of Time is a complex and dense series, with many characters. So that’s where we left the protagonists of the series at the end of the first season.

Spoiler alert, if you have not seen the first season of the series on Prime Video, do not continue reading, at the risk of having a good part of the episodes spoiled.

As a reminder, The Wheel of Time is an adaptation of the eponymous saga by Robert Jordan. The plot takes place in a world where women can channel Power, and with it, achieve feats. Season 1 follows the quest of Moiraine, an Aes Sedai (Order of Powerful Women) bent on saving the world from the threat of the Dark One. She travels with Lan, her protector with whom she shares a precious bond.

She accompanies a band of 5 young people across the country and tries to find out which of them is the Reincarnated Dragon. The person concerned may, according to a prophecy, save the world or destroy it. Rand, Nynaeve, Egwene, Perrin and Mat each have reasons to believe it.

Moiraine without powers in season 2 of The Wheel of Time ?

Moiraine and Rand, who revealed himself to be the Dragon Reincarnated, traveled through the Blight together, to the Eye of the World. Rand has visions and begins to use the Power (in principle forbidden to men). He manages to push the Dark One back into his prison. But he feels madness invade him and refuses to become like the first Dragon, a murderer. He decides to leave alone and asks Moiraine to make believe in his death. Moiraine can no longer channel the Unique Power. She confides to her faithful friend Lan that the fight against the dark one is not over.

For her part, Nynaeve died defending the city from the invasion of Trollocs and Pallids sent by the Dark One. A fight in which many Aes Sedai lost their lives, consumed by too much magic. Luckily, Egwene brought her back to life with her Power.

Perrin, who remained in the castle of Fal Dara, narrowly escapes a massacre perpetrated by Padan Fain. The latter explains to him that all 5 have their role to play in the wheel of time, and are connected. He too is endowed with a special power, a connection with wolves. Mat, who had stolen a cursed dagger and gone mad, did not follow the others.

The arrival of the Seanchans, new major opponents

The last element will be one of the red threads of this second season. In the last minutes of season 1, we see a fleet of warships with on board women wearing muzzles and mastering the Power of the One. It is about the arrival of the army of the Seanchans, a people with barbaric customs, who intend to extend their hold on the Continent.

Their arrival does not bode well. Because this threat is added to that of the Dark One whose power grows, and extends over the Continent.

In the cast of season 2 of The Wheel of TimePrime Video subscribers will find Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Josha Stradowski, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, Marcus Rutherford but also Alvaro Morte.

Season 2 of The Wheel of Time premieres September 1 on Prime Video. And for the first week, subscribers will be entitled to three episodes at once. Shall we take out the popcorn?
