Previously, UN Deputy Secretary-General in charge of coordinating humanitarian issues and emergency relief, Mr. Martin Griffiths, confirmed information about the attack, calling it an “impossible situation for the people of the Gaza Strip and those who are trying to help them.”
The situation in the Gaza Strip is increasingly unstable and insecure, amid severe food shortages and the Israeli army expanding ground attacks on the coastal strip.
In an announcement on December 29, health authorities in the Gaza Strip said 21,507 Palestinians have been killed and 55,915 others injured since the Israeli army launched an offensive campaign on this Palestinian territory. In the past week, according to Israeli statistics, about 1,140 Israelis died as a result of the conflict, most of them civilians.
