About 5,000 positions are to be filled in the transport sector, which emphasizes training, particularly for people with reduced mobility.

The profession of truck driver is in total shortage: more than 5,000 positions are to be filled in Belgium and “nearly 40% of companies have a vacant position”, underlines Isabelle De Maegt, spokesperson for the Royal Belgian Federation of Transporters and Logistics Service Providers (Febetra).

The sector is important: it has 72,212 workers (logistics and transport) including nearly 60,000 drivers. It is also essential for the economy: “We could see it all the more with the health crisis.”
