Initiated in Quebec, Operation Red Nose began in 1990 in Switzerland, in the canton of Jura. Then cantonal doctor, Jean-Luc Baierlé brought back this concept of voluntary service in his suitcases after a stay in the Belle Province where his wife is from.

Nez Rouge allows a driver who no longer feels fit to get behind the wheel to be returned free of charge to his home in his own vehicle. This action aims to prevent and raise awareness in order to reduce the number of road accidents.
