Hummer driver who hit a child returned to jail

Kirill Ostrovsky, who had previously left the pre-trial detention center due to the judge’s vacation, was again taken into custody, the prosecutor’s office said.

Hummer driver Kirill Ostrovsky, who shot down a 10-year-old girl to death on Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard in 2018, is again taken into custody. About it informs the city prosecutor’s office of the capital on Monday, October 11.

Today, the Pechersky District Court of Kiev granted the prosecutor’s request and applied to Ostrovsky an uncontested measure of restraint in the form of detention until December 9, 2021.

Earlier, the judge went on vacation and did not extend Ostrovsky’s arrest, which is why the driver was released.

We will remind, on July 24 in the center of Kiev on Lesi Ukrainka Boulevard Kirill Ostrovsky hit a girl in a Hummer SUV at the crosswalk and tried to hide. The child died from his injuries.

And on July 26, the Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kiev arrested the Hummer driver without the right to make a deposit. During the meeting Ostrovsky partially admitted his guilt and said that he did not try to hide from the scene, and regrets what happened.
