The city of Bamberg offers three free FSJ places from September 2022

A year for culture and education

After school, many young adults want to get their bearings first before deciding on a career path. Voluntary service offers the perfect opportunity to try out new tasks and activities.

Elina Fondis is currently learning everyday working life at the Municipal Music School in Bamberg as part of a Voluntary social year in culture know. “The FSJ helps to broaden your own horizons,” says the 19-year-old. She currently supports the secretariat of the music school and has gained the appropriate routine in telephoning and dealing with inquiries.

A total of four FSJ students are currently doing their voluntary service with the city of Bamberg. “For the first time, I’m getting to know a classic working day and gaining insight into the various processes in the municipality. That’s not only really interesting, but also helpful for my professional orientation,” says Tomma Seiler, FSJ student at the Bamberg World Heritage Center. The practical use is accompanied by seminars and workshops, in which the FSJler:innen exchange ideas throughout Bavaria, reflect on their experiences and acquire new skills.

As of September 2022, there is one FSJ place each at the city library, the municipal music school and the Bamberg World Heritage Center, for which volunteers aged 15 to 26 can apply until March 15, 2022.

The application runs via the platform “voluntary services culture and education in Bavaria”. There you will also find further details on the general conditions of the Voluntary social year in culture: https://www.freiwilligendienste-kultur-bildung-baern.de/freiwi llige.
