Berkut officers fire at protesters
The exact number of cartridges from which the activists could be killed, as well as the specific weapon from which the shots could be fired, have been established.
Law enforcers have identified the circle of persons who may be involved in the murder of participants in the Revolution of Dignity Sergei Nigoyan, Mikhail Zhiznevsky and Roman Senik. This was stated by the deputy head of the State Bureau of Investigation on Maidan Affairs Artem Yablonsky, reports Ukrinform Thursday, 18 February.
“We have identified for ourselves the circle of persons who may be involved in these murders. Earlier this circle was unknown, as well as the distance of the shooting, so there was certain speculation in the media that allegedly“ activists killed their brothers. ”We are investigating this information by way of excluding and narrowing down the circle of persons who may be involved in this. And in fact, someone is involved, “Yablonsky said.
He clarified that it is too early to talk about the announcement of suspicions, since there is not enough evidence for this. At the same time, the investigators do not doubt that these murders were committed by law enforcement officers, so now they are actively working out the relevant units, which “received bullets found in the bodies of those killed.”
“We have even established the exact number of cartridges from which we could have killed, the specific weapon from which they could have been carried out (shots – ed.), And we are working on this. Unfortunately, the video does not allow us to identify these killers. Traces on weapons and bullets also no, because the bullets that were used were to stop vehicles and do not leave individual marks from a specific weapon. Therefore, it is very difficult to tie it to a specific person. But in this we have certain best practices. We are moving towards the persons whom we check for involvement in these crimes “- added.
Recall that Mikhail Zhiznevsky, Sergei Nigoyan and Roman Senik died in January 2014 during protests in the center of Kiev.
We will remind, the Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova announced completion of investigations on the main cases of the Maidan by the end of this year and sentencing for the execution of protesters on February 20, 2014.
Earlier it was reported that in 2020 over 30 people were imprisoned in the Maidan case… 82 more suspects are on the wanted list. The RRB is currently handling 80 cases. The murders of three security officials are also being investigated.
