Glad you’re streaming with us while we’re following breaking news in the war in Ukraine the Biden Administration just announcing moments ago a new $300 million military aid package will be headed to Ukraine our Patrick reval is following this out of our London Bureau what more do we know Patrick hi Kira
Yeah I mean just in the last half hour National Security director Jake Sullivan announced that the Biden Administration is providing a new Security package worth $300 million to Ukraine this comes as a bit of a surprise because obviously more Aid to Ukraine remains deadlocked in Congress and it is still deadlocked
But basically the White House is saying that has found this extra money um through savings from previous Congressional authorizations basically most aid from the US to Ukraine is put back into contracts with us defense companies which produce weapons to replace the weapons that the US is sending to Ukraine and basically
Sullivan said that the money has been found it’s been found that while negotiating these contracts they came in under costs and they found this extra $300 million that will go to air defense and artillery ammunition mainly but as he also noted this is really just a drop
In the bucket because the because the Biden Administration right now is trying to get $60 billion worth of Aid passed through Congress this is only 300 million and so we of course called on Congress to still pass um that bill and saying that this does not make up for
That he also said that it will pass if it’s brought to the floor if the Republicans allow it Kira all right Patrick revil thanks so much for the late breaking news there we appreciate it hi everyone George Stephanopoulos here thanks for checking out the ABC News YouTube channel if you’d like to
