Steel Wings celebrated a 5-1 victory in Feldkirch

After the 7-0 defeat on Thursday in the guest appearance at the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, the Linzers were able to find a suitable answer on Saturday evening. The VEU, which changed the concept a little after being unable to enter the ICE Hockey League and – like the Steel Wings – focuses on the youth, did not really come into play from the start. Isak Ekelund opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the game. Further opportunities could not be converted into further hits for the time being. It should take until the middle section, but then the Linz team even met in a double pack: After the 2-0 win by Stefan Freunschlag (23rd), Ekelund once again set the tone for victory with the 3-0 (26th).

On the defensive, Linz goalie Leon Sommer was able to keep his box clean for up to 39 minutes. The Vorarlbergers, with Jonas Kail, Adrian Rosenberger and Ivan Korecky, three ex-Linzers on the ice, got 3-1 thanks to Trastasenkovs. It didn’t get really exciting anymore because Niko Lahtinen was able to increase to 4: 1 20 seconds after the kick-off of the third period after submission by Ekelund. In the same combination, the 5: 1 fell in the 56th minute.

“Our goal was to provide an answer to Thursday’s defeat. We did very well today. From the first minute we appeared very determined and implemented a lot of what we set out to do. We deserved the game decided for us. I’m very proud of the way the team acted today and showed from the start that they want to win today’s game, “said coach Philipp Lukas.

In the table, the Steel Wings are in 13th place after seven games with eight points. The next game will take place on Thursday in the Linz-AG-Eisarena, when the KAC Future Team will be a guest from 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Linzers will be performing with the Kitzbühel Eagles.
