After mentioning a bubble at Roland-Garros to prevent Covid-19 contamination there, the French government finally announced on Monday that the vaccination pass would be compulsory for foreign professional athletes. One way to avoid a new Novak Djokovic case (the Serbian player, unvaccinated, was expelled from Australia on Sunday after a long political and legal imbroglio).
The precaution seems essential, because France very regularly welcomes athletes from all over the world: from football to cycling, from rugby to athletics, from swimming to judo, until the summer of 2022, international sporting events will be many.
To these, listed below, are added the matches of the European Football Cups (with PSG – Real on February 15 in the Champions League, then Lille – Chelsea on the 22nd, among others), rugby, where sanitary conditions have already greatly disrupted the calendar, but also basketball, handball, volleyball, etc.
So many competitions on which the vaccination pass could have an impact – there will already be some in the National Championships since vaccination does not concern 100% of players in French clubs, as in the Top 14.
