The Spanish state television on Friday condemned the racist statements made by a sports commentator invited during the presentation of the black French player Eduardo Camavinga with the Real Madrid.
During Camavinga’s presentation on Wednesday, the analyst was heard Lorena gonzalez off camera saying “This guy is blacker than the suit.”
Camavinga, 18, is of Angolan origin.
“Spanish Radio Television condemns the comments heard last Wednesday on Teledeporte during the presentation of Eduardo Camavinga as a new Real Madrid player, “said RTVE in a statement. a lack of respect and they are inappropriate on public television ”.
González, who regularly participates in the sports analysis program “Stadium Study”, published his own statement on social networks in which he offered “my sincerest apologies to anyone who may have been offended.”

“Said comment lacks malice or contempt for the athlete, and although it is unfortunate and believing that the mike was closed, does not have a racist or pejorative component at all, “he said in a message that seems to justify his comment.” It was a comparison as I could have done with anyone of any color. The RTVE, for its part, announced that it is investigating the incident.

Camavinga joined the Madrid with a six-year contract from the French club Rennes. He made his debut for the French first division club in September last year.
