## Executive Summary & Cultural Positioning

Zustìssia is a 2026 drama film directed by Francesco Piras in his feature directorial debut, with a screenplay featuring writing contributions from Lisa. The film is inspired by the judicial case of Beniamino Zuncheddu, a Sardinian shepherd who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1991 for a triple homicide and later definitively acquitted on January 26, 2024, after spending 33 years in prison following a retrial initiated by lawyer Mauro Trogu.

Set against the backdrop of the mountains of southern Sardinia, the film reconstructs the events surrounding the 1991 case and the subsequent legal battle. Its cultural significance lies in dramatizing a notable miscarriage of justice and the decades-long fight for exoneration in the Italian legal system, bringing attention to a case that spanned over three decades.
