## Executive Summary & Cultural Positioning

Uncut is a 2009 horror and thriller film directed by Philip West that follows seven individuals searching for an escape. The narrative centers on the final performance of a pantomime held at an isolated theater in provincial England. After a disastrous show that attracts only a small number of locals, the cast and crew hold a party. Some members of the group, including the leads Clarice and Nathan, the director Derrick, and a stage assistant named Janet, retreat to the theater basement for a private session. The film is notable for being presented as a single, continuous Steadicam shot. As the situation unfolds, the characters face a desperate struggle for survival, with the premise establishing that only one person will remain alive by the end. The production features a cast including Jason Allen, Gabrielle Amies, Safron Beck, Sharon Clancy, Lois Winstone, Robert Harley Wainwright, and Richard Stoker. The film has a runtime of one hour and twenty minutes, though other sources describe the experience as a ninety-minute, uncut take.
