## Executive Summary & Cultural Positioning

The Treasure of Swamp Castle, also known by its Hungarian title Szaffi, is a full-length animated feature film released in 1985. Directed by Attila Dargay and based on Mór Jókai books including The Gypsy Baron, the film follows the romance between a young poor Hungarian aristocrat named Jonas and Szaffi, a Romani-looking Turkish girl and the illegitimate daughter of a Turkish pasha, amidst eighteenth-century turmoil.

The cultural significance of the film lies in its adaptation of Mór Jókai's nineteenth-century literature into animation.
