## Executive Summary & Cultural Positioning

SHY is a 2023 animated television series that falls under the genres of animation, action and adventure, and sci-fi and fantasy, holding a TV-14 rating on The Movie Database. The series explores a world where superheroes emerge on the brink of a third World War, bringing peace and dividing themselves to protect specific countries. Japan's representative is Shy, a hero blessed with super strength whose greatest obstacle is her own crippling shyness.

The cultural significance of the series centers on its fresh take on the superhero genre, shifting focus from invulnerability to vulnerability by making social anxiety the primary hurdle for its protagonist. Through dynamic animation and high stakes, the narrative balances epic global conflict with an intimate coming-of-age journey as Shy fights to defend Earth and build her self-confidence alongside her super friends.
