## Executive Summary & Cultural Positioning

Dystopia is a television series categorized as a science fiction, fantasy, and drama that premiered in 2018. The show was created by Michael Copon and Simon Phillips. The narrative is set in the year 2037, a time when the world is suffering from a virus that has rendered humanity infertile. According to the premise, no children have been born for 25 years. During this era, global governments function as powerless puppets for a major corporation known as Biocorp, which repeatedly promises a cure that never arrives. In an attempt to address this crisis, a pair of scientists travel back to the year 2017 to alter past events and prevent the virus from ever existing. While attempting to create the world's first teleporter, these scientists inadvertently develop time machines. Their efforts to change history result in unintended consequences. The series features performances by Michael Copon, Simon Phillips, Eve Mauro, and Sheena Colette. The program explores themes centered on an imagined society where people lead wretched, dehumanized, and fearful lives.
