## Executive Summary & Cultural Positioning

Crank Yankers is a comedy television series that began in 2002. The program presents a fictional community called Yankerville whose residents are puppets whose dialogue is supplied by celebrities and stand‑up comedians. These puppet characters place telephone calls to real people, and the calls are recorded without the recipients’ prior knowledge. The series frames each segment as a “crank” phone call, delivering the kind of prank many viewers imagined making during childhood. According to its description, the show pairs authentic prank calls—made to unsuspecting victims—with puppets that act as visual stand‑ins for the callers, providing a visual representation of the conversation. The format therefore combines real‑world telephone pranks with a comedic puppet performance. The series carries a TV‑14 rating, indicating content intended for teenage and older audiences. Both the TMDB overview and the IMDb summary emphasize that the humor derives from the juxtaposition of genuine prank calls and the animated puppet world of Yankerville.
