## Executive Summary & Cultural Positioning

Backyard Movie is a 1991 film directed by Bruce Weber that explores the intersection of personal history and artistic inspiration. The project originated after the director received a reel of home movies from his parents, which documented his childhood years. These private family recordings serve as the primary foundation for the film. By incorporating this archival footage into the narrative, the director attempts to bridge the gap between his past experiences and his present creative influences. The film made its debut at the New York Film Festival. According to official records, the production has a runtime of nine minutes. This short film offers a reflective look at the director's background through the lens of his family's personal history. The work remains a notable example of how filmmakers can utilize intimate, non-professional footage to examine the development of their own artistic perspective. The film was released in the United States on January 1, 1991.
