As a Prelude to Fear is a 2022 horror film directed by Steph Du Melo. The story follows the kidnapping of a young cellist named Eve Taylor, who is held captive in a dungeon-like basement. This individual has been active for over fourteen years, with three other girls previously reported missing and presumed dead. Detective Barnbrooke has failed to stop the perpetrator in the past, and he faces the pressure of identifying and proving the suspect's guilt before Eve meets the same fate as the earlier victims. The film, which has a runtime of one hour and thirty-seven minutes, features a cast including Francis Magee, Lara Lemon, Jamie Langlands, and Lucy Drive. The production is associated with the horror, mystery, and thriller genres and is noted as having been filmed in the United Kingdom.
