Police said the murder took place on Friday (16/10/2020). They added that the police had also shot dead the perpetrator.
The attack took place in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, a suburb northwest of Paris, France.
French anti-terror prosecutors are investigating the case as murder in connection with an attempted terrorism and criminal terrorist association.
President of France Emmanuel Macron then visited the school and talked to the teachers as quoted from United Press International.
“One of our colleagues was killed today because he was teaching. We must stand together as citizens,” said Macron.
Police said the incident started when one of the students’ parents threatened a history teacher after the teacher showed a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad to students.
The teacher shows a caricature that is published in a satire magazine Charlie Hebdo in 2015 as part of the discussion.

A post on Twitter on October 9 contained a video of a man saying his daughter was a student and that he was shocked and upset by the teacher’s actions.
The man in the video urged the Twitter user to complain to the authorities and asked for the teacher to be fired.
