Freudenberg (dpa / lnw) – At a school in Siegerland, according to the school management, a hooting crowd filmed a burning rainbow flag that had been snatched from a schoolgirl. In a message on the school homepage of the comprehensive school Freudenberg, the headmaster Reto Stein reported on the incident on Wednesday and condemned the behavior “in the strongest possible way”. The flag was torn from a schoolgirl and set on fire. “As if this event weren’t bad enough, a cheering crowd of students gathered around the burning flag and even filmed it,” it said.
“We are disappointed that students in our school act like this.” This is not what the school advocates. At the school there is no place for intolerance or violence, everyone is welcome, regardless of their origin or sexual orientation, emphasized Stein. The incident should be used as an opportunity to intensify awareness-raising and prevention work. The “Westfalenpost” and the “Siegener Zeitung” had previously reported.
