schedule, route and where to watch the armed forces on TV on Hispanic Heritage Day

The Armed Forces will parade again this Tuesday, October 12 through the center of Madrid on the occasion of the National Holiday.

The improvement in the health situation has allowed the traditional parade to be held again, which last year had to be replaced by an austere static act in the courtyard of the Royal Palace, without an audience and a reduced participation of military units.

The event will begin at 10:00 in the Plaza de Lima in Madrid with the incorporation of the Honors Battalion of the Royal Guard. Half an hour later, at 10:30, the Kings will arrive at the same square, where the tribune will be located and they will proceed to the military honors, the parachute jump and a new raising of the flag.

Once the raising of the flag and the consequent tribute is completed, the troops will begin to parade from the Plaza de Cuzco along the Paseo de la Castellana until they finish at the crossroads with Raimundo Fernández Villaverde.

This year a total of 2,656 military personnel will participate

On foot, first a group of the Royal Guard and different groups of the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and the Civil Guard will parade.

The parade will be closed by the Tercio Gran Capitán and the ‘Rey Alfonso XIII of the Legion’ brigade and the group of Regulares from Ceuta, with their characteristic steps.

According to sources from the organization, this year a total of 2,656 military personnel, 68 aircraft -between planes and helicopters- and 115 vehicles will participate. In the 2019 parade, 3,500 members of the Armed Forces traveled the same route.

The broadcast can be followed on La 1 de TVE from 10.15 am with a special programming that will run until 12.05 pm.
