María Doria Medina, sister of the leader of the National Unity (UN), Samuel Doria Medina, was apprehended in the Panama Papers case dating from 2018. The relative was arrested when she tried to board a plane bound for the United States.
The national director of the Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc), Alberto Aguilar, stated in contact with the journalists that a provision of the Prosecutor’s Office was enforced. Since he did not go to testify for a fact of which he is accused of two crimes
“The Special Force to Fight Crime of Santa Cruz have complied with an arrest warrant issued by the Public Ministry, against Mrs. María Lourdes Doria Medina and others for the crimes of illicit enrichment of individuals affecting the State and legitimation of illicit profits ”, he explained.

In 2018, a process was opened against the politician’s sister. According to the complaint, the politician’s sister is involved with the formation of the irregular company Akapana based in Panama, which caused economic damage to the Bolivian State.
In that sense, there was a Migration alert and she was arrested this Thursday in the city of Santa Cruz at approximately 2:30 p.m. After that, the Police proceeded to transfer her to La Paz to appear before the judicial authorities.
“She (Doria Medina) would not have provided her informative statements, which is why the Public Ministry has issued this arrest warrant,” explained the head of the Felcc.
Arrived in La Paz
At approximately 7:00 p.m. this Thursday, María Doria Medina arrived in the city of La Paz and was taken to the offices of the Prosecutor’s Office, where she will give her informative statement.
Upon arriving at the offices of the administrators of justice, the politician’s sister avoided giving statements to the press. His lawyers indicated that they will issue a statement.
