There is a long history with Mars and pareidolia, the human tendency to perceive familiar objects in random forms. Space enthusiasts have imaginatively seen rocks and formations resembling bones, fish, blueberries and even spoons.
Yes, you can find all sorts of entertaining rock shapes scattered about in the Jezero Crater. Here are some of the best so far Cnet, Wednesday (5/5/2021).
Software engineer Kevin Gill, a “data manager at NASA-JPL,” has a long track record of processing Mars images for the enjoyment of space fans. He saw an elegant stone taken by the explorer on April 15.
“Awww, looks like NASA Perseverance found tiny brachiosaurus fossils on Mars,” Gill tweeted.
The small rock featured a long “neck”, small “head” and large body that made it look like the famous large plant-eating dinosaur. To me, this unusual rock resembles No-Face from the Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away.
