Returnal may get a big update – will they add saves?

Apparently the studio Housemarque preparing a big update for its rogue-light shooter Returnal.

According to Twitter account PlayStation Game Size, recently an update was uploaded to Sony servers on 6 GB for the developer version of the game.

Since ordinary users cannot access it, it is unclear what exactly the new patch contains. but its large size suggests that additional features could potentially appear in the project, such as the frequently requested save system.

In May Housemarque statedthat I have heard community feedback on this matter, but have not yet decided how best to resolve the issue with the lack of familiar saves in the game.

Recall that the exclusive PlayStation 5 does not allow players to save their progress during the passage, which is due to the scope of the genre and the concept of a time loop – after death, players are thrown back to the very beginning with practically no savings, and the map is generated in a new random way.

Shortly after the release of Returnal, the Finnish studio acknowledged criticism from fans, some of whom complained that when game sessions were sometimes up to several hours long, there was no way to pause or save the game except to put the console into sleep mode.

According to the developers, the original idea was for players to go through Returnal with a hardcore mood, but the concept was not to everyone’s liking.
