Project start for the joint project “InnoVET CLOU – Future Cluster for Innovative Vocational Education”
The InnoVET project “CLOU” (FKZ 21IV007D) funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research supports adaptive and open-path training and further education (DQR 5-7) in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, which at the same time makes technical innovations accessible to vocational training. In cooperation with network partners from business, research and education policy, this leads to excellent professional qualification offers and learning locations.
Companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), are faced with a dilemma: How can skilled workers be recruited, qualified and retained in a more targeted manner, now and in the future? So far, it has not been possible for “fully qualified” trainees to receive a company-specific, professional higher qualification up to DQR-7 (German Qualifications Framework, Level 7) after completing their vocational training. As a result, skilled workers only consider university studies as another career option. Such qualified specialists are often lost to small and medium-sized companies in particular.
This is where the “CLOU – Future Cluster for Innovative Vocational Education and Training” project comes into play. In its four-year project phase, it develops industry-specific educational offers, qualifies vocational training staff and consolidates the structures and content created in three professional centers of excellence in the new federal states. CLOU is funded by federal funds as part of InnoVET, an innovation competition of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Through various measures, CLOU supports the attractiveness, quality and equivalence of vocational training and further education in comparison to higher education with a focus on the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. It develops, tests, evaluates and transfers “bridge qualifications” from DQR-5 for horizontal and vertical training. This is done taking into account the respective operational needs and individual needs as well as the starting point for learning. The aim is reliable professional learning path and career planning based on personalized and company-specific measures.
In the future cluster for innovative vocational training, additional qualifications (ZQ) are created for physics, chemistry and biology laboratory assistants, such as the ZQ “Industrial Cleaning Technology”. In addition, further qualifications for chemical technicians, pharmacists and laboratory technicians to become professional specialists (DQR-5), bachelor’s professional (DQR-6) and master’s professional (DQR-7), with a focus on digitization and networked production / laboratory as well as occupational safety / responsible care ( a chemical industry initiative to improve business in the areas of environment, safety and health).
Additional qualification “industrial cleaning technology”
The additional qualification “Industrial Cleaning Technology” is designed and built up modularly by the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP together with the SBG and later also tested in practice. The great need for such a qualification was recorded in the online survey recently carried out by the cleaning division at Fraunhofer (www.reinigung.fraunhofer.de) on the market and trends in industrial component cleaning, the results of which will soon be published in a study.
To improve the permeability between training and studies, the project is developing a digital competence measurement process that promotes the recognition of the learning content and competencies acquired in both directions. The competence measurement procedure gives learners feedback for their self-assessment as well as their further development.
In order to strengthen the skills of the training and further education staff and to improve the quality of training, CLOU designs and tests qualification offers. In particular, the targeted transfer of technical innovations from research and development into operational practice is to be supported here. The use of digital media in professional practice creates, among other things, novel communication spaces to support learning and work processes.
CLOU brings together three vocational training service providers from the new federal states, with a focus on the chemical industry, as well as six other network partners from business and research. The CLOU network structures and educational offers will be anchored through the establishment of three centers of excellence for vocational training with integrated inter-company training in Dresden, Berlin and Schkopau.
The cleaning division at Fraunhofer will provide information on the current status of the project, further details and further training opportunities for industrial cleaning technology at this year’s parts2clean in Stuttgart, from October 5th to 7th, 2021 at booth number B22, in hall 4.
