Praveen/Melati Lose in First Match

Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti joined in the mixed doubles group B in BWF World Tour Finals 2021. They faced a pair from Thailand, Dechapol Puavaranukroh / Sapsiree Taerattanachai at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday (1/12) afternoon WIB.

Praveen/Melati lost in the first game 14-21. But they came back in the second game, 21-10 but lost in the third game 11-21.

The first game started, the match was tight at the start until the score was 3-3. After that, Dechapol/Sapsiree started to lead 9-5 when they got their rhythm.

The mixed doubles pair from Thailand then closed the first interval with a score of 11-5, after Praveen Jordan’s return service got stuck in his own net.

Praveen / Melati try to get up after the interval. Dechapol/Sapsiree kept the distance of 14-9, through Sapsiree’s punch which while turning was able to return Praveen Jordan’s smash.

Melati was able to do a perfect drop shot, outwitting Dechapol. They cut the gap, 12-17.

Game points for Dechapol/Sapsiree 20-14. Furthermore, they won 21-14 in the first game through a Sapsiree shot that put the ball in the far corner.

The second game started, the match was tight again at the beginning with the score 2-2. Dechapol/Sapsiree then led 4-2, because Melati made a mistake reading the direction of the ball which turned out to be into her territory.

Melati pierced through her mistakes, reflexively grabbed the ball and again equalized at 5-5. After that, Praveen carefully read the ball that came out and took a 7-5 lead.

Praveen / Melati take control instead. They closed the second interval with an 11-6 advantage, via a cross from Praveen Jordan.

Praveen/Melati are hot, they’re getting their rhythm. The game was fast-paced, Melati’s cross failed to be returned by Sapsiree which gave them a 13-6 lead.

The Indonesian pair continued to drift away 18-8. again, Sapsiree failed to return the ball that ended out.

Game point for Praveen/Melati is 20-9, now it’s Dechapol’s turn whose punches land far from the target. Praveen/Melati finally closed the second game with a 21-10 advantage, through Praveen’s jump smash which Sapsiree failed to stop.

The third gym, Praveen / Melati continue to appear calm and force the opponent to make mistakes. They took the lead 4-2.

Dechapol/Sapsiree managed to equalize. See the game go fast.

Dechapol/Sapsiree returned to lead 7-5. Melati failed to put the ball into the opponent’s area which ended out.

The score continues to be tight. The third interval belongs to the advantage of Dechapol / Sapsiree 11-8.

Praveen/Melati haven’t given up. They tried to cut the distance, unfortunately it seemed rushed and was their own fault.

Jasmine’s punch stuck in the net, making Dechapol/Sapsiree away 17-10. The match point for Dechapol/Sapsiree was 20-10, after Melati hit her own net again.

Next, Melati hit the net again. Dechapol/Sapsiree won 21-11.
