A woman from Neustadt-Glewe allowed fraudsters to bring her for more than 1,300 euros. A stranger pretended to be their daughter via WhatsApp, the police said. The wrong daughter explained her new cell phone number by saying that her old cell phone was broken. After some communications, the person asked the victim for a larger amount – with it he wanted to pay a pending bill. The woman fell for the fraud and transferred the money to someone else’s account. Only then did she call her real daughter – this was how the fraud was noticed. The police are warning of this scam using messenger services. | 11/30/2021 4:21 PM
