9 people have been awarded Padma Bhushan. Dilip Mahalanabis, who developed the ORS solution, received the Padma Vibhushan award. The discovery of the ORS solution, which saved the lives of 5 crore people, made him eligible for the award. He is 87 years old and is a native of West Bengal.
