Criticism of Prime Minister Mounted for Leaving Amid Gas Shortage and Supermarket Problems
Last update.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is on vacation on the Costa del Sol with his wife Carrie and son Wilfrednicknamed “Wilf,” aged 17 months, despite a perfect storm looming over his country with the fuel crisis, supply chain shortages and rising energy prices.
The “premier” would be in a luxury villa between the towns of Marbella and Benahavís, although details of the place have hardly been disclosed for security reasons. It is the couple’s first trip since they traveled to the island of Mustique in January of last year. But the circumstances this time are different. The British have been suffering from a gasoline shortage for weeks due to the lack of carriers. The “Tory” government has been forced to send the Army to guarantee the distribution of fuel. A “patch” that does not solve the problem of lack of carriers that the country has suffered since leaving the European Union.
Johnson is also facing growing public discontent over the increase in the cost of living caused by the rise in the price of gas which is wreaking real havoc on homes. While the prime minister goes on a luxury vacation.
British ministers, in turn, are concerned that a rise in wages, which Johnson seeks to promote with his policies of disengagement from the EU, may trigger an increase in inflation without boosting productivity. Rather than acknowledge a lack of planning, the British prime minister has blamed businessmen “for getting drunk on cheap labor in Europe.” He also criticized citizens for consuming too much gasoline. With the country so heated it does not seem that they are going to be a very quiet vacation for the “premier” even if he wanted to put land in the middle.
