STOCKTON (KOVR) – A fallen hero’s family now has a home forever. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is paying off the mortgage of the fallen Stockton Police Officer Jimmy Inn.

“You emailed me yesterday and I can’t believe it. I still can’t believe it, “Tela Inn told CBS13. “Just knowing that no matter what, my children have a home to come to, a home that all of our memories as a family for the past two years were in that home.”

Inn finds it hard to find the words for such unexpected friendliness. Tela, who is also a policewoman, lost her husband in May when he was shot on a phone call about domestic violence.

“I’m lost for words. I mean, Jimmy and I bought this house a little over two years ago so we still have to pay a lot for it, ”Tela said.

“She deserves this peace and security so much and for the sacrifice her family has made,” said Jennifer Brekke, Director of Tunnel to Towers.

Brekke says the idea of paying off mortgages came about to have the greatest impact on families making the ultimate sacrifice. The foundation also wanted to help families stay in their homes and communities where their children can stay in the same school as they are already experiencing without further changes or losses.

“It just makes so much sense to give something back to these families who have lost so much,” said Brekke.

“We brought the baby home with us in this house and we just know that this is our home and we don’t have to worry,” Tela said.

Tela lost her child’s father and best friend, but now she can keep the home she found forever.

“It’s a burden that has been lifted from my shoulders. It just makes it a lot easier to keep going and trying to move forward, ”Tela said.
