The Omicron infection rate among new confirmed cases in New York and New Jersey has exceeded 13%, and it is pointed out as the main culprit for the re-spread of COVID-19.

“Omicron mutations are spreading rapidly in New York City. It’s on the rise ahead of the holidays.”
The share of Omicron infections in the United States also jumped from 0.4% two weeks ago to 2.9% last week.
In the past week, the average daily number of new confirmed cases in the United States increased by 31% compared to two weeks ago, and the number of inpatients also increased by 20%.
Local health officials have warned that Omicron will become a dominant species in the United States in the coming weeks.

In the UK, a whopping 93,000 cases were confirmed in one day, breaking the record for three days in a row.
The UK government is considering a two-week ban on indoor gatherings to slow the spread of Omicron.
Pfizer, a US pharmaceutical company, has put forward a grim outlook that the COVID-19 situation could be extended until 2024 due to the advent of Omicron.
