The NBA 2K annual license will make a comeback in just a few days with NBA 2K22. Let’s take this opportunity to take stock of everything that this new opus has in store for us.

When do we put on the high tops? And on which platforms?

It’s the September 10th that addicts to double steps and dunks will be able to set out again to perform on the floor, orange ball in hand. Indeed, from this date, NBA 2K22 will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for € 69.99, on PC and Nintendo Switch for € 59.99 and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S for € 75.99. Also note that a PS4 + PS5 or One + Series cross-gen pack will be available at € 84.99. Finally, players can also take advantage of the 75th anniversary edition, which sells for € 99.99. The latter includes the cross-gen pack as well as additional content featuring Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the stars of this edition.

What gameplay additions?

For this new episode, the team of Visual Concepts decided to focus on defense in order to address the major problem of NBA 2K21. The defensive system, namely interceptions and counters, have therefore been reviewed in depth. Always to bring a better balance between defense and attack, also note that certain dribbles consume more the stamina of the players.

New game modes on the program?

The answer is no, but all modes of NBA 2K21 are back, namely Seasons (sort of free Battle Passes), MyNBA and MyWNBA, My Career and My Team. These last two arrive besides with some novelties. In the My Career mode, players will be able to build their own empire by buying a magnificent home and creating their universe in fashion or hip-hop.

My Team (a card game like FIFA Ultimate Team) marks, for its part, the big comeback of the Draft variant. This option allows players to select their squad from a continuously updated list of players. Note that all wins won (VC currency, collections, points and tokens) by this drafted team are transferred directly to My Classic Team mode.

What are the differences between the machines?

If the differences between the versions are above all visual, NBA 2K22 also offers many differences in terms of its content. On next-gen, i.e. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, My Career mode (now linked to My Neighborhood mode) offers players to explore a gigantic city, like The City, the city of NBA 2K21. But this time, the city is more animated thanks to the presence of characters controlled by the computer who come to inhabit the places. This metropolis also offers more open locations and a new quest system.

On old-gen (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch), the My Neighborhood multiplayer mode is making a comeback, but this time, players no longer evolve in a small neighborhood, but on a cruise ship that travel to exotic places (Egypt, Iceland …) throughout the seasons and which of course has a handful of basketball courts.

Who are the stars of this episode?

And Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas Mavericks), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Bucks, Lakers) et Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors) come to light up the cover of the 75th anniversary edition of NBA 2K22, it is Luka Dončić of the Dallas Mavericks which is on the classic cover of the game.
