Munich – Julian Nagelsmann is not planning any personnel changes for FC Bayern’s home game opener on Sunday (5:30 p.m.) against VfL Wolfsburg.

“It’s like this at the moment: There’s no real reason to change anything. I also don’t assume that I’ll change anything,” said Munich coach Nagelsmann, looking back at the furious start of the Bundesliga in the 6-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. This means that national players like Leroy Sané also have to be patient during the time without English weeks.

Nagelsmann does not particularly know the former Munich and current Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac. “I have no personal contact with him. We haven’t had any exchanges about football-related things either,” explained Nagelsmann. “I think he’s an emotional coach who also likes to make football work.”

So far there has only been small talk between them. “He definitely won more titles in his first season at Bayern than I did, I know that, but it still didn’t end perfectly,” said Nagelsmann with a smile. Kovac won the double in his first season as Munich coach before he was released in autumn 2019.
