Morocco plays a major role in the Mediterranean region

Morocco plays a major role in the Mediterranean region in several areas, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said in Rome on Friday.

“Bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom, a fundamental player in the Mediterranean, can develop further if we involve the young generation,” said the Italian minister, during a ceremony for awarding excellence scholarships to Moroccan students.

Mr Di Maio took this opportunity to salute Morocco’s pioneering role in the fight against terrorism and its contribution to the stability of the region, referring to the efforts made by the Kingdom in the Libyan dossier.

“We have concluded a strategic partnership with Morocco on multidimensional projects, which is an important step on the way to strengthening bilateral relations in the various fields”, recalled the head of Italian diplomacy.

The Italian foundation Med-Or de Leonardo awarded scholarships for excellence to three Moroccan students.
These students will benefit from a two-year training course in global management and politics, international relations, and economics and finance.

This initiative is part of a new collaboration between the Polytechnic Universities Mohammed VI of Rabat and Luiss Guido Carli of Rome.
